An unfortunate injury will force a former Ohio State standout to miss extended time once again in his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns.

Former Buckeye Mike Hall Jr. is going to miss multiple games and could potentially have surgery after suffering a knee injury during practice on Thursday. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Friday that the Injured Reserve is a possibility for the rookie defensive tackle. The Browns selected Hall out of Ohio State in the second-round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Hall’s rookie season got off to a tough start after he missed the first five games of the season following an arrest on a charge of domestic violence, which resulted in a suspension from the NFL. Since returning, Hall has looked the part and looks to be a second-round pick well spent when he is on the field. Unfortunately, that has not been a whole lot so far early in his career.

After returning from his suspension, Hall allowed the Browns to move on from veteran defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson. Following the trade of defensive end Za’Darius Smith to the Detroit Lions, the Browns were going to need more of Hall out there rushing the passer.

Hall has played about 25 snaps a game for Cleveland on defense during the four games he’s seen action this year. During that time, the rookie has seven pressures, five tackles, and two hits on the quarterback.

Now, the Browns will need to rely on Maurice Hurst and Sam Kamara a bit more on the interior of the defensive line. Dalvin Tomlinson will continue to be the starters for Cleveland.

With eight games left in the season, at this time it is unclear whether Hall will return to action, or if he will have surgery and have to miss the rest of his rookie season.
