Ohio State won’t play this weekend due to a bye week following the game against Oregon. When the Buckeyes return to the field next weekend, they will host the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
There does appear to be some good news for the Buckeyes during this bye week. Five-star cornerback commit Na’eem Offord visited Oregon for the game last weekend when they defeated Ohio State, but his latest social media post should make Buckeye fans worry less. Offord is pointing out that he hasn’t flipped with the commonly used chestnut emojis that are often used in place of a typical buckeye.
Oregon is not the only other program the Buckeye commit has been in touch with lately. The Alabama native has visited Auburn more than once in the last few months but is still solid on his commitment to Ohio State.
Offord has been committed to the Buckeyes since February and pairs with Devin Sanchez to give Ohio State two elite cornerbacks who will enter the program next year. According to the 247 Sports’ Composite rankings, Offord is the No. 10 player in the country.
In today’s era of college recruiting, it is harder than ever to hold onto a verbal commitment. The Buckeyes will have to continue to do just that, while the Ducks and others try to sway Offord their way.
The 32-31 loss against Oregon on the road in the final seconds isn’t going to have much impact on a recruit either way. If the Ducks want to flip Oregon, they are going to have to do more than that.
