Ohio State is coming off of their biggest win of the season on the road against Purdue. The No. 2 Buckeyes now turn their focus to hosting the Purdue Boilermakers.
There will be just two home games remaining for Ohio State after their game with Purdue, so it is going to be a big recruiting weekend. Specifically, it is a big weekend for running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.
Multiple key running back targets will be in Columbus for the game against the Boilermakers. Ohio State has a two-headed monster at running back currently between TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, but both will be off to the NFL after the season. Past that the only depth Ohio State has is freshmen James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon.
2025 RB Anthony Rogers
Ohio State is very interested in flipping Rogers, who is currently committed to Alabama. The Buckeyes could take up to three backs this class with already having Isaiah West and Bo Jackson committed. Rogers is the No. 8 running back and No. 141 overall player, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Rogers has been committed to the Crimson Tide since June of 2023 and the Buckeyes didn’t offer until April. Since then, the Alabama native has been a target of the Buckeyes and a player they would love to flip. There is some legit speed to Rogers’ game and he can work out of the slot catching passes.
2026 RB Derrek Cooper
Cooper is rated the No. 3 ATH and No. 29 overall player in the class of 2026, per 247 Sports Composite rankings. The Buckeyes view Cooper as a running back, like the majority of coaches recruiting him. The talented running back attends Chaminade-Madonna Prep, the game school that wide receiver Jeremiah Smith came out of in Florida.
The Buckeyes offered the 6-foot-1, 190-pound running back in May and they will be competing against schools like Miami, Georgia, and Florida in this recruitment. Cooper has a chance to be the best running back in the class of 2026 and would be a big get for any program in America.
2026 RB Savion Hiter
The No. 1 running back in the country for his class will be in Columbus this weekend. Hiter was most recently visiting Tennessee and every program in the country is going to have heavy interest. Ohio State offered Hiter back in October of 2023 and getting him on campus is a big step in recruiting him.
Hiter is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound running back from Virginia. Ohio State is really pushing to land one of the top-backs in this class.
Key Ohio State defender reveals former Buckeye star Braxton Miller played a part in him getting to Columbus
The Buckeyes are surely glad it worked that way.
