The NFL Scouting Combine took place this past week and a bunch of Ohio State Buckeyes were in Indianapolis to compete.

Ohio State has a chance to tie or break the record for players selected in a draft in April. Georgia holds the record with 15 players and that is how many the Buckeyes had at the combine.

One player who was there was no other than S Lathan Ransom, who battled a ton of adversity to build himself into an NFL-level safety. Ransom was thrilled to talk about the team in Columbus still and what is to come.

“James Peoples is a dog, that young running back coming up, he makes a lot of plays,” said Ransom at the combine. “I think all the young receivers that are going to make a lot of plays, and whoever is that other safety, you're going to be talking about him a lot.”

The Buckeyes will need a few new playmakers to step up in 2025 and Peoples will be one. After losing both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins to the NFL, Ohio State has a ton of opportunity in the back growls to fill. As a sophomore, Peoples is expected to take on a large chunk of that responsibility.

In 2024, Peoples was the No. 3 running back for the Buckeyes and appeared in eight games. During that time, Peoples carried the ball 49 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns. The former four-star recruit is listed at 5-foot-10 and 203 pounds.

Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate are the top returning weapons in the offense and they’re set to put up big numbers next season. However, keep an eye on Peoples, who is bound to wake up the rest of the college football world in 2025.
