While the Ohio State Buckeyes are focused on Texas and the Cotton Bowl on Friday, they also have to worry about the transfer portal and everything that comes with it.

Each and every program is impacted by the portal ebert season and some more than others. The Buckeyes have had multiple players already opt to hit the portal, as well as a few additions to the team.

The latest exit for the Buckeyes won’t impact them right now, but it does take a running back away from the team for next year’s depth. Freshman Sam Williams-Dixon has opted to hit the portal and he will not be staying with the team through the finish of this season.

Williams-Dixon was a three-star prospect in the class of 2024 who had offers from other programs like Penn State and Tennessee. This season, the freshman has operated as the fourth running back behind TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and freshman James Peoples.

As a freshman, Williams-Dixon has carried the ball seven times for 53 yards. The talented running back attended West Holmes High School before finishing up at Pickerington North in the Columbus area.

Ohio State is going to lose both Henderson and Judkins to the NFL and will have a much different-looking running back room next season. CJ Donaldson has transferred in from West Virginia and will join Peoples as the top two backs in the room. The freshman class incoming includes Bo Jackson, Isaiah West, and Anthony Rogers.

All in all, 12 scholarship players have now entered the portal from Ohio State. Williams-Dixon will soon land on his feet with another program after a short stay in Columbus with the Buckeyes.
