The Ohio State Buckeyes have just five commitments in the class of 2026 but they’re working hard this spring to raise that number, as it is still early in the class.
Ohio State doesn’t yet have their quarterback for the class of 2026. They were in on five-star Jared Curtis early on, but now he is choosing between Georgia and Oregon.
Five other top-10 quarterbacks in the class are already committed, so the Buckeyes likely aren’t landing a top recruit at the position in 2026. Some dominoes need to fall still, but The Podcast’s Jeremy Birmingham believes there is one quarterback the Buckeyes would like to land in this class in an ideal world.
“Ohio State loves Bowe Bentley and if today was signing day and they had to pick a quarterback and say, this is our quarterback, I think he would be it,” Birmingham said on a recent episode of “Talking Stuff”.
Bentley is the No. 10 quarterback in the class of 2026, according to 247 Sports Composite. Bentley is the No. 123 player in the country and the No. 18 player in Texas. The 6-foot-2 quarterback is considered an Oklahoma lean, but they already have Jaden O’Neal committed in the class. Georgia is the other school with heavy interest, but landing Curtis would take them out of the running.
Ohio State hosted Bentley for an unofficial visit last week as they began spring practice. It was the first visit to Columbus for Bentley to visit the Buckeyes and a big step for a player who already holds an offer from the Buckeyes.
“Columbus was as hoped,” Bentley told On3 after his visit. “Seeing the top of the food chain, the champs.”
LSU and Florida State are other schools in the mix for Bentley. Ohio State has five-star WR Chris Henry Jr. committed in the class, who would be an attractive player for any quarterback to throw to.
The Buckeyes clearly still have a ways to go in the class of 2026, but Bentley could end up being the guy down ending on how the dominoes fall.
