The Buckeyes could certainly use him in this class.

The Ohio State Buckeyes currently hold the No. 9 recruiting class in 2026, with the majority of their work already done. Still, there are some final touches to put on the class in the coming months.

Ohio State has 21 commitments so far and will look to add a couple more players this fall and winter. One way to do that is through flips — and it looks like the Buckeyes may be working on just that.

The Buckeyes may go after Michigan’s prized defensive recruit

According to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals, Ohio State may circle back and get involved again in the recruitment of five-star pass rusher Carter Meadows. While Wiltfong notes that Meadows is solid with Michigan right now, that may not hold.

“That’s another one where I feel like if Ohio State sees some daylight to squeeze back in, they’ll certainly try to make a move with Carter Meadows.” – Steve Wiltfong

Meadows is rated as the No. 5 pass rusher and No. 29 overall prospect in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, he’s an elite edge prospect who will need to add weight before he’s ready to play in college. Once he does, he projects as a nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

Currently, Ohio State has just one true pass rusher committed in this class for defensive line coach Larry Johnson — four-star Khary Wilder. Adding another is key, as the Buckeyes are set to lose Caden Curry, Kenyatta Jackson, and C.J. Hicks after the season.

With both high school and college seasons now underway, the opportunity for Ohio State to re-enter Meadows’ recruitment could grow — and if it happens, it would be a massive addition to their 2026 class.
