Ohio State Buckeyes have inched closer to picking up a major win ahead of the College Football Playoff beginning
The Ohio State Buckeyes have this 2027 recruit high on their priority list for good reason.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are mostly focused on the College Football Playoff, but are still getting some recruiting done between now and their next game on Dec. 31.
Ohio State takes a step toward landing elite target
The Buckeyes are in the final four schools for 4-star Millbrook (NC) LB Quinton Cypher, who is expected to announce his decision later this week. Cypher will choose between Alabama, Miami, Georgia, and the Buckeyes. The 6-2, 220-pound linebacker is a major target for the Buckeyes this cycle.
According to 247 Sports Composite, Cypher is the No. 11 linebacker and No. 192 player nationally in the class of 2027. Ohio State offered the talented linebacker back in Aug. of 2024. Ohio State linebackers coach James Laurinaitis is the lead recruiter, and the Buckeyes brought Cypher to campus in November.
Ohio State is about to lose their top-2 linebackers
The Buckeyes are likely to lose two linebackers to the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles set to make the jump. Ohio State will return Payton Pierce for his junior year, and he’s likely to have a significant role. True freshman Riley Pettijohn has shown major flashes this year, and Tarvos Alford is another name to watch.
Laurinaitis has become a great recruiter in little time with the Buckeyes. With Hartline off the staff, the former Ohio State linebacker is now perhaps the best recruiter. If he can go out and land Cypher over Alabama and Georgia, it’d be more proof.
