We are just two days away from the National Championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame that will be played in Atlanta on Monday night.
The Buckeyes are favored by over a touchdown, but expect it to be a battle to the finish. Ohio State has faced a tough road to get here with wins over Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas. A win over Notre Dame to finish it would give Ryan Day his first National Championship.
After the Buckeyes arrived in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday evening, Day revealed that he doesn’t think Ohio State has played its best game yet.
“I still don’t think we’ve done that. That’s the goal,” Day stated.
It is going to take a good lunch from Ohio State to take down the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame runs the ball well and they offer a great pass defense. Both of those things are potential problems for any team, including the Buckeyes.
Notre Dame is led by former Buckeye Marcus Freeman and he has them humming at the right time. The Fighting Irish are a team that deserves to be here after taking care of Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State.
Ohio State has a lot of momentum since their loss to Michigan seemed to be a real wake-up call. The wins over the Vols and Ducks were big margins. Ohio State looked in control against the Longhorns too.
“When you have momentum, you've got to keep it [rolling],” Day stated. “I feel like we've continued to get stronger as the season's gone on. We've had a plan on how we were going to do that, and so now, again, we have to be at our best,”
The National Championship will bring us a first-time National Champion head coach by the end of Monday night. Buckle up, folks.
