We are two days away from the Rose Bowl between Ohio State and Oregon, which will decide who moves on to the semifinals in the College Football Playoff.
These are two teams that will have placed twice this year when it is all said and done. If Ohio State didn’t lose to Michigan to end the regular season, there was a chance that these teams played three times.
Ahead of Wednesday’s game, the team arrived in California on Sunday to prepare for the Ducks. Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard didn’t hold back on what the Mi set is in Pasadena.
"We're trying to treat this like a business trip. This is not a normal bowl trip," Howard said Sunday. "We are not here to necessarily go sightseeing or check out the city or anything. We're here to win a football game."
Howard is treating this as a business trip, just as he should as a leader on this football team. After beating Tennessee in the first round, the worst thing that the Buckeyes could do is become complacent with the one postseason win. If Ohio State can take down the 13-0 Ducks, they will have a great shot to go on and win it all.
After getting him from the transfer portal following last season, Howard has been the exact player the Buckeyes need at quarterback. The senior has thrown for 3,171 yards with a completion percentage of 73 and 28 touchdown passes. Howard has thrown just nine interceptions while adding seven rushing touchdowns.
Against Oregon in the first matchup, Howard played well enough to win by completing 28-of-35 passes for 326 yards and two scores. The Buckeyes are going to have to play a bit better on defense and they have as the country’s No. 1 defense this season.
Ohio State is saying all of the right things leading up to Wednesday evening’s game, now they just have to go out there and show it.
