Ohio State did everything they set out to do on Wednesday in the Rose Bowl against Oregon. The Buckeyes got revenge against the Ducks by way of a 41-21 shellacking.

Ohio State’s offense was humming early and got out to a 34-0 lead before the Ducks scored just before halftime. It was the kind of performance that looked like it carried over from the Tennessee game.

The Buckeyes continued to dial up the downfield passing to freshman star Jeremiah Smith and quarterback Will Howard played a terrific game. Now, the road is only getting tougher for Ohio State. The Buckeyes will now play Texas in the semifinals, who Howard is very familiar with from his time in the Big 12.

"There was one team that I never beat in the Big 12, and it was Texas, so I'm really looking forward to this game,” Howard said after the win over Oregon.

Howard completed 17-of-26 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. The senior quarterback was not sacked and did not turn the ball over. Chip Kelly’s offense was able to put up 500 yards of offense against Oregon.

“I’ve played them four times [and] definitely have some feelings about them. The way that we lost last year, we lost in overtime down there. I’m excited to get a crack at these guys. They’re a great football team.”

Texas is coming off an overtime win over Arizona State to get to the semifinals. The Longhorns had to beat Clemson to get to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. Texas is 13-2 on the season and both of their losses came to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Ohio State is going to need another strong showing to get past Texas and into the National Championship. It sounds as if Howard is up for the task with the offense.
