Ohio State is now set to have a key visitor for the Minnesota game by the way of an elite recruit who just became available
A big update for the Buckeyes and who they’ll have on campus.
The Ohio State Buckeyes only have one home game for October, so it’ll be a key recruiting weekend in Columbus with multiple visitors set to be in town. Coming off their first Big Ten win of the season on the road against the Washington Huskies, the Buckeyes are home for a Saturday night game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers this weekend. It’ll be the second home night game of the season for the Buckeyes, something fans have wanted to see more of.
Ohio State has the No. 9-ranked recruiting class with 21 commitments, per 247 Sports. The Buckeyes missed on several key targets over the summer and are now trying to add a couple of final pieces to close out the class. There is no hiding who the biggest visitor for the Buckeyes will be on Saturday.
Former Clemson Tigers commitment will be in Columbus visiting Ohio State on Saturday
The Buckeyes have just one true pass rusher committed and that is four-star EDGE Khary Wilder from California. Ohio State will be hosting Buford (GA) four-star edge Dre Quinn on Saturday as the Buckeyes are back in the mix for the former Clemson pledge. Quinn opened his recruitment back up on Sept. 25 after being committed to the Tigers for about three months. The Texas Longhorns are seen as the favorite here, though the Buckeyes getting him on campus is a good sign.
Quinn is a 6-foot-4, 228-pound pass rusher who is ranked as the No. 395 player nationally and No. 35 edge rusher. Quinn has nearly 40 offers with just about every major program having interest at some point. Ohio State has a trio of interior defensive line players committed for the class of 2026 but adding another edge after missing on Luke Wafle and Carter Meadows is needed.
Following this season, the Buckeyes will lose Caden Curry, Kenyatta Jackson, and C.J. Hicks from their defensive end group. Beau Atkinson very well could return for another season, but the Buckeyes will be lacking experience to say the least. Zion Grady is a current freshman that the staff is high on and he’s going to have a bigger role next season. Adding a second player to the next freshman class will be key for defensive line coach Larry Johnson’s future of the room.
As mentioned, getting Quinn on campus is the first big step here. Ohio State offered the Georgia native back in January and they’ve now turned the heat up since he recently became available again. We’ll see if the Buckeyes are able to come out on top with this one.
