Ohio State is 5-0 on the season after dismantling Iowa by a score of 35-7 in what was their toughest test of the season to date.
The offense was explosive for the Buckeyes in the second half specifically and found success through the air and on the ground. Of the 412 total yards Ohio State had, 209 were passing yards, and 203 were rushing yards.
Quarterback Will Howard was 21-of-29 passing and had five total touchdowns with four of them coming through the air and one on the ground. Three of the touchdowns went to senior wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who had himself a great game.
"I think Emeka's one of the best receivers in the country,” head coach Ryan Day said after the 35-7 win. “You see a complete player. He is a captain of our team, he’s a warrior. He does all the dirty work. I think, again, one of the better receivers in the entire country."
Egbuka caught nine passes and finished with 71 yards against the Hawkeyes. Only Jeremiah Smith finished with more yards and he had 89 on four grabs.
The senior is up to 433 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Egbuka came back to Ohio State to have a fully healthy season with a chance to compete for a National Championship. He’s putting together a very nice season on the way to trying to do that thus far.
Ohio State gets the ball to Egbuka all over the field and target him a ton to try to give him a chance to break a big one. When he isn’t making big catches, he is making his mark as a blocker. That is what makes him a complete wideout.
Next up for the Buckeyes is a trip to Oregon, where the Buckeyes will need everything Egbuka has to give them against a good Ducks team.
