Ohio State Buckeyes receive just the injury news they needed ahead of playing the Washington Huskies on the road
Some good injury news to help out the Buckeyes on defense.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will soon travel out west for their Week 5 game against Washington Huskies. Ohio State’s first road test of the season comes in a tough environment to start Big Ten play. This game will also be the first road start for sophomore QB Julian Sayin. Ohio State has a big win over the Texas Longhorns, though that came at home. Getting it done on the road is a bit tougher and Washington is no slouch either.
A promising injury update for the Buckeyes heading into the Washington game
Ohio State lost CB Lorenzo Styles against Ohio due to a minor injury and it appears that the senior is going to be okay. “Ready to go and had a great week of practice,” Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said of Styles on Wednesday. The Buckeyes will be primarily healthy for their road test of the year with Styles not expected to miss the game against Washington.
Styles is in his third season with the Buckeyes after transferring over from Notre Dame. The fifth-year senior is in his first season as a starter for the Buckeyes, taking over for Jordan Hancock from last season. The Pickerington native had 16 tackles all of last year, which was the most he’s had in a season. The Buckeyes defender has already made 10 tackles in three games this season.
Sophomore Bryce West is the backup slot cornerback to Styles and Miles Lockhart provides depth there too. Ohio State is big on being as versatile as they can with their players, cross-training them at multiple positions. Ohio State has a number of players who can step into the slot, including star S Caleb Downs. Matt Patricia’s defense will have a real test when going up against Washington.
Huskies QB Demond Williams and WR Denzel Boston present a real problem for any defense and that’s who the Buckeyes will have to key in on. Being fully healthy is a positive, but now the Buckeyes need their defense to travel well for their first road test.
