The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a bye week and looking to avenge their disappointing road loss at Oregon. This week's foe, Nebraska, isn't looking as daunting as they did before suffering through a 56-7 beatdown to Indiana last weekend. That hasn't stopped Alabama 4-star running back Ja'Michael Jones from being "excited" to make his first official to Columbus for the matchup.

Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn offered Jones a scholarship in April, and the Montgomery, Alabama, product would be a good fit with the program. Head coach Ryan Day could use a speedy backfield option in 2026.

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 185 pounds, Jones is ranked as the No. 244 overall prospect and the 19th running back in the 2026 class.

He has received 16 Division I offers from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.

During his sophomore year, Jones rushed for 1,166 yards on 215 attempts, scoring 19 rushing touchdowns. He also made 22 receptions for 210 receiving yards, including one touchdown through the air.

The Buckeyes have only one commitment for 2026 right now, and that's 5-star receiver Chris Henry Jr. 11 running backs hold offers from the Buckeyes, and Savion Hiter is considered the top of the group. He's deciding between Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, and some others.

Jones is a speedster, boasting standout track times and weighing in around 190 pounds. Ohio State looks like a good fit considering its needs, the lack of standout in-state talent in 2026, and the fact it'd be poaching from several rivals.

We'll see if Jones is ready to make an announcement after this game or if he wants to wait. He hasn't made any official visits this season yet, so this is a big moment in his recruitment process.
