After LeBron James showed up to Ohio State’s National Championship win over Notre Dame, you just knew Ryan Day would be asked about James on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Day was asked by Fallon if he had seen a post on X where James asked, ‘Do I have college eligibility if I went to play another sport besides basketball? How does that rule work?’ If LeBron James wanted to play college football and play for you, could this happen?’

When responding, the Ohio State head coach first showed respect to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Then, Day went on to say that James would have to work his way up at Ohio State just like any other freshman.

"Well first off, LeBron is a huge fan of Ohio State, and he's been a great supporter. With that being said, he'd be right in line with the freshmen in the back of the room, he'd have to work his way up, I mean he doesn't get any special treatment.”

James was a standout football player at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary right along with his basketball skills. In all reality, James could have played anywhere if he had taken football up seriously. The whole basketball thing has more than worked out for James, who once had coaches like Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer recruiting him to play football.

Unless you’re Jeremiah Smith, you are not going to be a star as a freshman in Columbus. Only the top freshmen have any kind of role with the Buckeyes right away typically, so Day isn’t lying there.

James has always been a Buckeyes supporter and said if he had gone to college it would have been in Columbus. James and Nike have long had a relationship with Ohio State and that isn’t going to change.
