The Ohio State Buckeyes are 12-0 on the season after finally getting back on track against the Michigan Wolverines. Following four straight losses in the rivalry, Ohio State righted the ship with a 27-9 win in Ann Arbor.Heading into the game, there were questions about whether the Buckeyes would have star wideouts Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate available. That uncertainty faded Saturday morning when news broke that both would be active, and by the afternoon, each had scored a touchdown.

Ryan Day makes bold statement about Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate suiting up against Michigan

“If you really knew how much work they put in to get on the field and how gutsy they are — I’m sure the fans and everybody would appreciate what they did in going out there and putting it on the line,” Day said Saturday afternoon.

Tate had missed the previous three games due to what was initially described as tightness in his lower body before the Purdue game. Smith had been dealing with a nagging injury that limited him to just one quarter against UCLA before he ultimately sat out against Rutgers. On Saturday against Michigan, however, the two looked like they hadn’t missed any time.

Smith struck first with a 35-yard touchdown from quarterback Julian Sayin and finished with three catches for 40 yards. Tate led the Buckeyes in receiving with 82 yards on five receptions, including a 50-yard score that helped Ohio State take firm control of the game in the third quarter. The Buckeyes didn’t take many deep shots against Michigan, but when they did, they made them count.

Having their two stars back proved to be crucial, and Ohio State will need them the rest of the way. Up next, the Buckeyes will face the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis.
