It is an evergreen environment in college football. The Ohio State Buckeyes are learning that in the toughest way right now. Following their national title victory over Notre Dame, their coaching staff has taken yet another hit.

Chip Kelly returns to NFL

According to Adam Schefter, the Las Vegas Raiders are hiring Chip Kelly as their new offensive coordinator.

Pete Carroll was recently hired as the team's head coach. He knows Kelly well and appreciates his work in the both the NFL and college football. Multiple teams in the pros have had interest in hiring Kelly in recent weeks, including the Houston Texans.

Kelly rejoins the NFL landscape after seven recent years in college football. He garnered head-coaching experience, as well as his time as an OC. Both certainly played a role in his return to the pros.

Staff changes for Buckeyes

As for Ohio State, the losses continue to mount when it comes to staff pieces. Jim Knowles left to become the DC at Penn State. Buckeyes OL coach Justin Frye was just hired by the Arizona Cardinals.

Both Frye and Knowles were major losses for Ryan Day, and replacing them will certainly be a challenge. As for Kelly, he was one of the most well-respected OCs in the country.

Now, the search is on for a new offensive mind in Columbus as well.
