Ohio State Buckeyes have had two transfer portal additions this spring with DE Beau Atkinson coming from North Carolina and OT Justin Terry from West Virginia.

Atkinson has a chance to step in and make a real impact for the Buckeyes after having 7.5 sacks last season with North Carolina. Though the transfer portal is closed, that doesn’t mean the Buckeyes are done making additions.

When it comes to what is left for Ohio State and Ryan Day to address in the portal, more depth on the interior of the defensive line makes sense. Day admitted the Buckeyes are looking at additions to make there.

"We are, we have, but we want to make sure that when we bring somebody in, it has to be an upgrade to what we have,” Day explained on Tuesday.

Ohio State seems set to start Kayden McDonald and Eddrick Houston on the interior of the defensive line. The questions arise after that with the depth. Hero Kanu was going to have a big role for the Buckeyes but transferred to Texas in the winter.

Tywone Malone Jr., Will Smith Jr., and Jason Moore are three players currently set to produce depth for Ohio State. Losing Tyliek Hamilton and Ty Hamilton from last year’s team are big losses for the Buckeyes because they were multi-year contributors. This spring gave the staff a chance to evaluate where they stood in the trenches and whether or not additions may need to be made for the 2025 season.

If the Buckeyes make another addition in the portal, expect it to come on the defensive line. Day said that the Buckeyes will be carrying 90 players on scholarship this season.
