‘It doesn’t sit well’ – Ryan Day admits how the Ohio State Buckeyes are feeling ahead of facing Miami in the College Football Playoff
Ryan Day revealed how the Buckeyes are feeling heading into their College Football Playoff matchup with Miami.
In just over a week, the Ohio State Buckeyes will try to get back on track after a loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten Championship. Now in the College Football Playoff, Ohio State needs to show that the loss was just a part of the journey to repeating.
On New Year’s Eve when Ohio State plays Miami, they’re matching up with a tented roster, top five in the sport to be fair. The Buckeyes can’t afford to have the miscues they had in the red zone against Miami, or they’ll be going home quickly. Though, it sounds like the loss to Indiana may have flipped a switch.
Ryan Day makes a major statement on where Ohio State is right now preparing for Miami
“Everybody’s just moving around with an edge. Everybody is pissed off,” Day said on Monday. “Everybody wants to get it right and wants to win. Nobody likes to lose. Nobody. And it’s a game that we felt like we shouldn’t have lost.”
But you got to learn from it, grow from it, and move on. And when you sit on it for this long of a time, it doesn’t sit well. So we got to make sure that that doesn’t happen again.”
Ohio State will have had nearly four weeks between the loss to Indiana and its matchup with Miami. Last season, a 13-10 loss to the Michigan Wolverines to end the regular season changed things for the Buckeyes. After that, Ohio State went on one of the best runs we’ve seen with wins over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.
If the Buckeyes can find that same grit from the loss to Indiana, it means good things going forward. Miami has a strong defensive line and that’s the worry going into this one. Indiana’s defensive line gave the Buckeyes issues and Miami’s is even better. Nonetheless, it’s a good bit from Day to know how the team is moving heading into this game.
