Thursday through Saturday was special for a number of former Ohio State Buckeyes who played a key role in bringing the National Championship to Columbus.

Overall, 14 former Buckeyes were drafted into the NFL in Green Bay, Wisconsin over the weekend. No college had more players selected and Ohio State was one pick off of the record 15 players the Georgia Bulldogs had drafted in 2022.

If it wasn’t for a significant injury for one former Ohio State starter, the Buckeyes would have had 15 players drafted. Now, an NFL team could benefit from getting him as an undrafted free agent.

An Achilles injury may have kept Seth McLaughlin from being drafted despite being the Rimington Trophy winner, still, McLaughlin is going to have a chance to carve out an NFL career. McLaughlin signed an undrafted free sent deal with the Bengals right after the draft ended. Ohio State made some big splashes in the transfer portal before last season and McLaughlin may have been the most underrated.

McLaughlin started 34 games between his time at Alabama and Ohio State and became a leader with the Buckeyes in no time despite spending just one season in Columbus. The Ohio State center was an Academic All-American, as well as a Consensus All-American in 2024.

Back at Ohio State’s Pro Day, McLaughlin had the perfect approach to his draft stack.

"I got a lot of good tape out there, I've got a lot of accolades, a lot of experience, and I can bring a lot of value to an organization," McLaughlin stated. "So I'm not worried about it, wherever I end up, I end up and I'm excited to see where that is."

There’s no doubt that Buckeye Nation will be rooting for him to make the team in Cincinnati, which would keep him not far from Columbus.
