Ohio State wanted to move in a different direction at quarterback following last season and that move left former starter Kyle McCord on a new team.
Things are going well for McCord at his new home with Syracuse, where he got off to a successful start following a week of the college football season.
In fact, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown is already sending a message to Ohio State about McCord.
"Kyle's a good football player," Brown said following the Orange win over Ohio. "You've seen it right there. I should send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne for allowing us to get him — It's really cool."
McCord finished 27-of-39 passing for 354 yards and four touchdowns. The former Buckeye threw one interception in his debut with Syracuse. It was a good debut for McCord against the Bobcats and it went about as well as he could have planned.
Ohio State on the other side is just fine. Will Howard played well in his first game against Akron and has already shown the running ability that makes him better for the Buckeyes. Still, you have to wish nothing but the best for McCord and he is off to a good start in that regard.
McCord simply was not good enough for Ohio State last year and he was not a quarterback that could raise the ceiling for the Buckeyes. Ohio State went out and brought in freshman Julian Sayin and Air Noland along with Howard. Outside of Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz, it is a whole new quarterback room for the Buckeyes.
Things are going well for McCord and Syracuse and they look to be happy with their decision to bring McCord in. They are also happy with the Buckeyes’ decision to move on from McCord and him hitting the portal.
Akron’s Joe Moorhead compares Ohio State to one of college football’s best teams ever following lopsided game
He had high praise for the Buckeyes.
