A Tennessee Vols starting linebacker showed some major respect this week for a couple of former Ohio State Buckeyes players.

Vols junior linebacker Arion Carter appeared on TPL Tennessee this week, where he was asked to name the best running back he’s ever played against.

Carter, who totaled three tackles and a pass defensed in Tennessee’s 42-17 loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff last season, quickly pointed out former Buckeyes running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins as two of the best he’s played against.

“Coming out of high school, the best running back I probably played against would probably be between TreVeyon Henderson at Ohio State and Quinshon Judkins,” said Carter. “Those two were probably [two] of the most electric running backs I’ve played against in the backfield together.”

Henderson rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns, while adding four receptions for 54 yards against the Volunteers. Judkins contributed 34 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with two catches for nine yards in the win over Tennessee.

Henderson was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Judkins, meanwhile, was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round.

Judkins has yet to sign with the Browns due in part to a domestic assault incident (Judkins wasn’t charged, but the NFL is investigating).
