One thing is not debatable about Urban Meyer’s tenure at Ohio State as the head football coach, he knew how to take care of Michigan each time out. In his career, Meyer was 7-0 against the Wolverines as the head coach of the Buckeyes.

Ohio State heads into this Saturday’s matchup as the No. 2 team in the country and has a great chance to beat the Wolverines for the first time in a few years. Ryan Day losing to Michigan three times in a row has really turned up the pressure for Ohio State to beat Michigan.

This Michigan team is 6-5 on the season after winning a National Championship last season. Still, Meyer believes that the Buckeyes can not go in overlooking them. Ohio State can’t fall victim to the point spread and all of that chatter.

“The minute someone says the Wolverines have bad players, you’re out of your mind,” Meyer said recently. “They got excellent players like you just said. They’ve had some quarterback issues, but quarterback can get fixed in a game. So I guarantee you there’s too much respect in that locker room at Ohio State. I know the coaching staff. You just work your tail off and find a way to win this game. So, regardless of what the media says, the point spread, it doesn’t matter.”

Ohio State is -19.5 favorites over Michigan and that is a line that just has not been seen often in this rivalry. The Buckeyes are 10-1 on the season and have two top-five wins on their resume; the most recent was against previously undefeated Indiana last week.

Michigan is getting just 140 passing yards per game out of their offense. That has been the anchor to bringing down this team. The Wolverines just can’t run a high-level offense, they are not equipped to. Against Ohio State, they are going to try to run the ball and keep it away from Ohio State. On the opposite side, they will be leaning on their defense.

Day has the perfect opportunity in front of him to get back on track against Michigan. It is the first goal the Buckeyes can cross off on their season’s list of goals and one that they must. Just look past them, as Meyer said.
