The Ohio State Buckeyes are back on the football field today after having Week 4 off. After three home games to open the season, including a win over the Texas Longhorns, the Buckeyes are on the road to take on the Washington Huskies.

It will be a battle of 3-0 teams to open up Big Ten play on the West Coast, and it’ll be the first time these teams have played since 2020. Heading into Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff, the Huskies have some unfortunate injury news.

Washington Huskies expected to be without star CB Tacario Davis

Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate just received an advantage heading into the Buckeyes’ first road game. Washington will be without its top cornerback against the Buckeyes, as Davis will continue to be sidelined with an injury. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report that Davis is doubtful to play due to an injury that has held him out since Washington’s Sept. 6 game against UC Davis.

Davis would likely match up with Smith, so the Huskies will rely on players like Dylan Robinson, Ephesians Prysock, and Leroy Bryant to step up at the cornerback position. Davis is in his first season at Washington after spending three seasons at Arizona, and he has already recorded an interception in under two full games played. Ohio State is coming into this game averaging 281 passing yards a game with QB Julian Sayin. The Buckeyes have dialed the passing game back a bit, like against Texas.

There was always the potential that Davis can’t go in Week 5, and once that’s confirmed at kickoff, it’ll be a tough loss. Ohio State is an 8.5-point favorite heading into this game, which will be played in a tough road environment. Washington’s defense will hope others continue to step up.
