Ohio State Buckeyes and Ryan Day pushing to steal five star wide receiver recruit away from Michigan and Big Ten rivals

This shouldn't surprise Ohio State fans at all, but thanks to Ryan Day, Brian Hartline, and absurdly impressive Buckeyes recruiting apparatus the number one overall wide receiver recruit in 2027 just had a phenomenal visit in Columbus.
This particular visit was extremely important seeing as it was the first spring practice that the young five star wide receiver had been to with Ohio State. Even more importantly though, this five star wide receiver is from Michigan, and is being heavily pursued by the Wolverines. Stealing him away from the team up north could prove crucial in coming years.
Dakota Guerrant, Five Star WR Recruit
Dakota Guerrant, a young star-in-the-making from Harper Woods, Michigan has been considered a top tier consensus five star talent for nearly a year now via most of the national recruiting services and continues to rise. Michigan has been chasing after him for quite some time, and according to many analysts in the recruiting industry seems to have a slight lead in the recruiting battle. However, Ohio State has been surging as of late, just hosting him for a visit and spring practice this week.
Dakota Guerrant and his crew confirmed with multiple sources that his Ohio State visit went very well. Guerrant is now approaching double digits in terms of unofficial visits with the Buckeyes, catching up to Michigan. He did also just see both Michigan and Michigan State within the last week too. Both programs seem to be firmly in the mix as well. However, neither program has anywhere near the track record of productive wide receivers who make it to the NFL, and Guerrant has emphasized how impressed he's been by that aspect of Ohio State's success.
While it would be nice to keep Guerrant away from key rivals, this recruitment obviously isn't just about keeping him away from Michigan and Michigan State. Guerrant boasts elite speed, ball tracking skills, YAC ability, and physicality for a young man who is still a sophomore in high school. Landing him would be a huge win for Ohio State recruiting yet again.
Yes, Ohio State is already stacked at wide receiver for now, but most every productive wide receiver currently on the team will likely be gone with the exception of Jeremiah Smith by the time Guerrant could lands on campus. Locking in the future is key.
In case fans have missed it, the Buckeyes have already landed commits from their 2027 quarterback in five star Brady Edmunds and a five star wide receiver in Jamier Brown. That puts the Buckeyes on early pace to pull in the number one recruiting class in 2027. If Ryan Day and Brian Hartline can get Guerrant to join the fold the momentum could really start to build.
It seems Guerrant isn't in much of a hurry to commit for now, but fans should expect him to return to Columbus again here soon after another strong visit and continued success for Ohio State.
