Despite the bad 2024 season during their inaugural SEC season, the Oklahoma Sooners are still recruiting well. Now, they have had a few players, specifically on the defensive line, de-commit and take their talents elsewhere, but overall, no serious changes have taken place. The Sooners are still bound to have a top-10-15 recruiting class for both 2025 and 2026.
Now, that doesn't mean that the Sooners can't start losing some committed players or players who may be thinking about going to OU. Who knows, there may be a kid out there whose dream is to play at OU, but he doesn't want to go because they aren't good, and he doesn't think they will be good anytime soon.
You just don't know what's going through these kids' heads.
But what we do know is that recruiting is done a bit differently in the SEC. Flips happen all the time between SEC rivals. The SEC is the best recruiting conference in football and pretty much every other sport, too.
And, the Sooners may soon realize that, especially in football, as there is a possibility that one of their committed players could flip. Who knows? But, he did just get a very enticing offer.
The Sooners are a bad team, and man, they got beat down by a very good team in the Ole Miss Rebels, who are looking like they could have a playoff game on the horizon. And, that team just offered Jonathan Hatton Jr., a 2026 4-star running back committed to the Oklahoma Sooners.
And, while that doesn't mean he will take it and flip it's enticing. Think about it. It's Lane Kiffin where there's stability, NIL, a good team, and a great offense. Not to mention, the Rebels have produced some pretty good running backs in the last few years, and they will get to play with some good QBs.
It's enticing, for sure. So, we will just have to stay locked in to see what happens on that front.
