The Oklahoma Sooners have a ton of injuries going against them this week, just like they seem to have every single week. But, this is a new one. It doesn't help that they are struggling like crazy on the offensive side of the ball, and can't seem to do anything right there. Now, they are taking another blow.
For the majority of the season now, the Sooners have been without their best four receivers, and even five at some points. That has made it incredibly hard for the quarterbacks and the offense to get anything going.
The running game hasn't been working well, either, and it certainly won't get any easier now.
Against the South Carolina Gamecocks, we noticed that backup running back Gavin Sawchuk did not play. Now, he hasn't been great this year, but has proven in the past that he can be a valuable asset, so, some assumed he didn't play because of his play this season.
Nope — Sawchuk is now hurt.
"Going into the game, he was healthy but he strained a quad," Venables said.
That's another player the Sooners will be down.
