Not many had the Oklahoma Sooners beating the Alabama Crimson Tide, on the road, in one of the hardest venues to play at in the entire country. Oklahoma faced the No. 4 team in the country at its home, with 100,000 people roaring at them.

Yet, Brent Venables and his team, against all odds, emerged victorious, a true testament to their resilience and determination in the face of the daunting challenge of winning in the SEC. When you do what he and his team just did, you can celebrate in whatever way you want.

However, I’m not sure anyone saw him celebrating in the locker room the way he did after the game. There’s nothing wrong with it — it’s actually quite hilarious. However, Venables doesn’t usually do things like put “a can of whoop ass” in the air while he and his players dance. Well, let me rephrase that — maybe he does do that, but we never see it.

Venables deserves to celebrate however he wants after beating Alabama

Anyone who has been following this team knows just how much Venables has been through over the last few years. It hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows. In fact, this is the first time we’ve seen said sunshine.

Even at the beginning of the year, some were still calling for Venables’ job. But he’s prevailed and backed up everything with his coaching, possibly punching a ticket into the College Football Playoffs.

That’s just the coaching side of things — the last two years have been difficult on the field and in the building. We haven’t even dived into what he’s dealt with in his personal life with some of the health complications his wife has had.

Brent Venables’ record at Oklahoma

  • 2022: 6-7
  • 2023: 10-3
  • 2024: 6-7
  • 2025 (so far): 8-2

Venables is Oklahoma football, and he’s one of the best dudes you will ever meet. You can tell he is a coach who truly cares about the players, rather than those coaches who only care about what happens on the field. Venables deserves this win, and he deserves to celebrate however he wants.
