Sooners are carrying the momentum from National Signing Day over to their 2027 class with prediction to land elite defender
The Sooners are on fire right now in their 2027 recruiting class.
The Oklahoma Sooners are in an extremely good position not only for the 2025 season but also for the future. Head coach Brent Venables has finally figured it out and has put this team into the College Football Playoff. 2025 is looking swell, as they have a legit shot at a National Championship. And then their recruiting tells us that they’re set up for the future as well.
On National Signing Day Wednesday, the Sooners signed 24 recruits, finishing with the 15th-best class in 2026. The class is full of playmakers and guys who know how to win. The 2026 class is going to be so much fun to watch. However, the Sooners have already moved on to 2027, and currently have the No. 1, or No. 2 recruiting class in the country, depending on which recruiting site you use. And now, they could only add to that, as elite defender Elijah Harmon is expected to commit to OU.
Sooners predicted to land four-star DT Elijah Harmon
Harmon is a 6’3, 300-pound defensive tackle from Inglewood, California. He’s a top 150 player in the country, the No. 17 defensive lineman in the country, and the No. 14 player in California. He’s got the early size to develop into an SEC player in the trenches. The Sooners develop and recruit the defensive line well, and from what we have seen over the last few years, players very similar to Harmon have found homes with Oklahoma.
Right now, Rivals has the Sooners predicted to land Harmon at 94%. The other schools in the running to land the four-star are USC, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Sooners’ landing him would be huge, given USC’s pursuit. Not only is USC in his backyard, but he’s also visited the Trojans six times to the Sooners’ two.
So far, the 2027 class has 10 commitments. Just three of those ten commitments are on the defensive side of the ball. Getting Harmon, their first defensive tackle in the class and second defensive lineman, is something that probably needs to happen. It’s early to be throwing out predictions about how the 2027 classes will finish, but it’s certainly off to a great start.
