The Oklahoma Sooners have been a steady producer of top-flight wide receiver talent across its prestigious history, from players like NFL Hall of Famer Tommy McDonald in the 50s and first-round pick Mark Clayton in 2005, to more recent stars like Heisman finalist Dede Westbrook and first-round picks CeeDee Lamb and Marquise "Hollywood" Brown.

It seems like they are poised to bring in yet another star talent in their wide receiver room in the upcoming 2025 recruiting class. Emmanuel Choice, a four-star recruit out of Lancaster, Texas, recently skyrocketed up the recruiting rankings.

On3's recruiting services upgraded Choice far up their rankings in their latest update. Choice entered the season ranked 246th in their recruiting rankings, but now has moved up to 96th overall and in the top 100 players in the 2025 recruiting class. From On3's scouting report:

"The 6-foot-4, 200+ pound wideout from Lancaster, TX has shown some improvements in his game, particularly after the catch and from a physical perspective. Emmanuel Choice looks like he has added some mass to his frame and has increased his twitch and short-area quickness as well. He laid down some serious track times in the hurdles this past spring running 14.56 in the 110 high hurdles and sub-40 in the 300 intermediate hurdles, both were personal bests. He also totaled over 50 catches for 800+ yards and 9 touchdowns in his senior season improving in each category compared to last year. Choice looks much more dynamic with the ball in his hands becoming a shiftier ball carrier making him extremely difficult to bring down in the open field. He still has the catch radius and ball skills to come down with contested catches, but adding more YAC to his bag of tricks makes him a much more complete wideout long term. Plus, he is still one of the younger receiver prospects in the 2025 cycle with his late July birthday."

The Sooners have done an incredible job developing and identifying wide receiver talents under position coach Emmett Jones. Not only did Nic Anderson, Jalil Farooq, and Jayden Gibson take massive strides last season, but Jones was able to bring in talented transfer Deion Burks in the offseason, as well as talented freshmen like Zion Kearney and Jacob Jordan.

Choice is one of five wide receiver commits the Sooners have locked into their 2025 recruiting class, joined by the likes of four stars Elijah Thomas, Cortez Mills, Marcus Harris, and three-star Gracen Harris. They will have to fend off Notre Dame before signing day to keep Choice's commitment, but the Sooners feel confident in their ability to keep such a talented player.
