Oklahoma Sooners vs. Missouri Tigers Final Score Predictions: Can Brent Venables close out the season and get into the CFP?
The Oklahoma Sooners must beat both Tigers teams remaining to make the CFP.
The Oklahoma Sooners have two games left, both against decent SEC teams: the Missouri Tigers and the LSU Tigers. They need to win both games to keep their spot in the College Football Playoffs. After big road wins over the Tennessee Volunteers and the Alabama Crimson Tide, it’s easy for this team to take its foot off the gas and get complacent. These next two teams aren’t nearly as good, and OU is at home — all the makings of an upset waiting to happen.
Our experts predicted the outcome of the matchup in Norman, Oklahoma, this weekend, and they all seem to think the Sooners will keep their spot in the CFP.
Oklahoma vs. Missouri final score predictions
Oklahoma 27, Missouri 17
Oklahoma proved it was up for the fight against Alabama last week, and I don’t see how they let all the momentum the defense and John Mateer have built go down the drain against Missouri. A Missouri Tigers team that has questions at quarterback, mind you. Oklahoma’s defense just thwarted arguably the best passing attack in the country vs. Alabama. The defense turned Ty Simpson over twice and held star WR Ryan Williams to just 45 yards receiving. With John Mateer continuing to look better every week, removed from surgery, it could be a long afternoon in Norman. – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports Alabama

The status of Missouri QB Beau Pribula is one to keep an eye on for this matchup, definitely. With him in, the Tigers have a legitimate passing game. Without him, not so much. Now, add in that they’ll face one of the best defenses up front and on the back end in the entire country. It’s going to be a tall task for Mizzou, no matter what. For Oklahoma, I’m interested to see how John Mateer navigates the Mizzou defense, too. They play an aggressive brand of football in the secondary and have tons of speed off the edge. As he gets healthier, we need to see greater consistency from him. Ultimately, I trust the Sooners a bit more as a complete team right now. – Adam Holt, A to Z Sports College Football Writer

Oklahoma 21, Missouri 17
This one feels like it could be a trap game for the Sooners if they aren’t careful. They are coming off an emotional four-quarter battle against Alabama, while Missouri is fresh off crushing Mississippi State and is still playing for contention. With some of the running backs being banged up, the Sooners are going to have to rely on John Mateer making it happen through the air on a productive Missouri secondary, something that seems rather worrisome given Mateer’s struggles through the air all season. With Missouri’s starting quarterback, Beau Pribula, seemingly ready to return this week, the Sooners’ defense will have to be prepared. This could be a weirdly close game, but Oklahoma’s defense comes up clutch again to deliver a win at home. – AJ Schulte, A to Z Sports Oklahoma
Oklahoma 28, Missouri 17
The Oklahoma Sooners have to find their offense in these last two weeks if they want to be a true threat to any of the teams in the CFP field. In this game, I see them doing just that against a defense that let the Texas A&M Aggies do whatever they wanted. Sure, Oklahoma isn’t as offensive as TAMU, but they have the weapons and a talented quarterback to get the job done. Missouri is likely to be playing without its starting quarterback, too, and with that offense putting its defense in bad situations, Oklahoma can have more possessions to get its offense going. Saturday should be a fun one for Oklahoma fans. – Justin Churchill, A to Z Sports College Football Assistant Editor/Oklahoma
