The Oklahoma Sooners are in desperate need of a win against the LSU Tigers this weekend. If they win, they’re in the College Football Playoff. If they lose, they’re out of it. Putting on a show would be huge, too. You see teams like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish put up 70 points on Syracuse, and the Sooners can’t score 30. If they can show the committe that their offense is improved, it may go a long way towards jumping a few spots if some madness were to happen this weekend. And, believe me, this weekend will be crazy, luckily our experts at A to Z Sports don’t think this game will be involved in that craziness.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. LSU Tigers Final Score Predictions

Oklahoma 27, LSU 14

This is a must-win game for the Sooners. A win and they make a strong case to earn a College Football Playoff spot. Luckily for Oklahoma, they are facing an LSU team in disarray, which will distract everyone from their own issues, which boil down to one thing: John Mateer bozo ball. It’s evident that Mateer has all the talent in the world, including being a true dual-threat. The big issue is how poorly he plays within structure. Despite being his third season in Ben Arbuckle’s offense, he doesn’t see the field well and when he does make a decision, it comes with a lot of frustration across the board. When he’s on, this offense can do anything it wants. If the Tigers can generate any kind of offense, which they couldn’t do against Western Kentucky last week, then the Sooners could be in serious trouble. Thankfully, Brent Venables has them playing at a high level, and should help catapult them into playoff position. – Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports Florida

Oklahoma 27, LSU 7

The Sooners have answered the call in three straight monumental games to put themselves squarely in the mix to host a College Football Playoff game. Now, they get to welcome an LSU team without much else to play for other than pride, who feel like they are limping to the finish line of this season. This might have been an intriguing matchup in the preseason, but LSU’s offense looks broken and Oklahoma boasts the best defense in the country. While the Sooners’ offense is still finding its way, the defense will make enough plays for Oklahoma to win this one comfortably and ride into the postseason on a strong win. – AJ Schulte, A to Z Sports Oklahoma

Oklahoma 27, LSU 13

The Sooners and Tigers meet, with one team looking to nearly secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, the other is treading water with an eye on Lane Kiffin and other potential head coaching candidates. If Michael Van Buren gets the nod for LSU at quarterback, I would expect Oklahoma to throw the kitchen sink at him defensively. Brent Venables’ unit is arguably the best in college football, and the inefficiency of LSU’s offense may doom them from the start here. QB John Mateer is seemingly getting healthier as the weeks pass by, and OU needs him to keep showing glimpses of why he was incredibly sought after during the offseason. In the end, it’s hard to see a path toward a victory for the Bayou Bengals here. I’ll take Oklahoma handily. – Adam Holt, A to Z Sports College Football Writer

Oklahoma 21, LSU 10

Oklahoma should win this game, but it could be a trap game considering what we know about both teams, and the fact this is an SEC game during rivalry week. The Sooners still have not fixed their offense, and it may be too late to do so. However, they have proven that their defense and special teams can repeatedly win them games. The offense just does enough to not lose, and that’s who they are. Against LSU, that’s who they will continue to be. LSU, a team without their head coach and on their last leg, will bring great defense to Norman on Saturday. But, ultimately the Sooners will prevail. – Justin Churchill, A to Z Sports Oklahoma
