The Oklahoma Sooners have been a flipping machine when it comes to their 2026 recruiting class. When you think they’re done, the Sooners flip one more recruit. They’ve done it now with several players in the last few weeks, and over the last month, they’ve been extremely hot. But they’ve recently been the victim of a flip, meaning another team flipped a recruit from them. Lane Kiffin is the one to blame for that.

Oklahoma gets a taste of its own medicine from Lane Kiffin

The Sooners flipped wide receiver Brayden Allen from Tulane. Allen is a three-star receiver with the potential to be even better than that. He’s from Louisiana, so Tulane was close to home. However, his dream was always to play for the LSU Tigers. Not long ago, there were rumors that he wanted to flip to LSU. He came out and said he was locked in with the Sooners, but as soon as Kiffin took the job with LSU, Allen decommitted from the Sooners.

This is something that pretty much everyone saw coming. Allen has not yet officially flipped at the time of this writing, but you can bet that LSU is the school he will be flipping to. Sooners fans shouldn’t be too worried about losing Allen, though. They were unintentionally prepared for this.

The 2026 recruiting class is nearly complete. Early Signing Day is in a few days, and the Sooners are making some final moves to get some players they think can be difference makers. They won’t be adding any more 2026 wide receivers. They have plenty, which is why they’re prepared to lose Allen.

Oklahoma has four other wide receivers committed: Jayden Petit, Jahsiear Rogers, Daniel Odom, and Xavier Okwufulueze. Petit seems to be the big name of the bunch, as he looks like he could play SEC football tomorrow if needed. But all of them are excellent players with a skill trait that really separates them. They don’t really need Allen; he was just nice to have. But fans can thank Kiffin for his no longer being on the Sooners.
