The biggest get this offseason for the Oklahoma Sooners was undoubtedly five-star plus offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. The Sooners were coming off of one of their worst seasons ever, and he still chose the Sooners.
That says a lot about the culture head coach Brent Venables may have cooking in the building, because before this season, they had only had one losing season in the last 20 years or so, and that was Brent Venables' first season. Add another one to that in the span of three years, and it feels like recruits would surely look the other way.
But, the 6'5", 300-pound five-star recruit signed with Oklahoma on December 4, 2024, choosing the Sooners over Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Oregon. Fasusi, though, was drawn by his connection with coach Bill Bedenbaugh, an offensive line coach who has been getting guys to the NFL for a while. You can look at some of the best offensive linemen in the league, and a lot of them come from Oklahoma — Philadelphia Eagles' Lane Johnson, San Francisco 49ers' Trent Williams, and even Cincinnati Bengals' Orlando Brown Jr., just to name a few.
And Fasusi has the potential to make it to the league and become a starter there. Now, he has a lot to work on and a ways to go, but the potential is there. He is still just a kid and hasn't even played his first game yet.
But Fasusi is impressive during spring football. In fact, he has had one of the best offensive line plays in the spring so far.
Earlier this week, the Sooners allowed local media to watch 30 minutes of 1-on-1s in practice. And, we got to see Fasusi take on PJ Adebawore and let's just say that Adebawore ended up on the ground, and not because he got the sack.
Fasusi has all the tools and the size to be great. If he keeps this up, there's no telling how long it will take him to be a starter in the SEC. Who knows, it could even be this year.
2026 4-star running back committed to Oklahoma Sooners just got a very enticing offer from SEC foe
That would be a crazy flip.
