In 2024 the Oklahoma Sooners didn't have quite the success they hoped for on both sides of the trenches. Now, the defensive line was good, with players like Gracen Halton, Jayden Jackson, R Mason Thomas, Ethan Downs, and more, the defense was elite.

They added players during the offseason to the offensive line, but there was never any consistency or continuity. There were so many injuries, a bad scheme with some bad coaching, and of course, bad play as well. The Sooners are known for their great offensive line play in the past, with some of the best offensive lineman in the NFL right now, having played at Oklahoma in their college days.

The Sooners have to get back to that, and luckily, they are targeting some really good high school recruits to try and do that.

Oklahoma Sooners send offer to Canon Pickett

The Sooners currently only have three players committed to their 2026 class and don't have any commitments to their 2027 class. But, they are actively pursuing players for both classes, and it's still really early. One name they submitted an offer for recently, is interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett.

Canon Pickett, from Tampa, Florida, in the 2026 recruiting class is a student at Wharton High School, where he has already caught the eye of several elite college football programs, including Oklahoma. At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Pickett leverages his size well against the high school competition he plays and has the size to do the same at the collegiate level.

In February 2024, LSU offered him a scholarship, but despite Oklahoma and LSU being big on him, On3 suggests Florida is leading the race for his commitment with a 62% chance. But, that doesn't always mean anything.

The Sooners need some guys for the 2026 class, especially on the offensive line, where they have Will Conroy currently as their only offensive lineman who is committed for 2026.
