Oklahoma Sooners have yet another quarterback interested in playing in Crimson and Cream for 2026
The Oklahoma Sooners had an obvious quarterback issue last season. Jackson Arnold wasn't great and Michael Hawkins showed flashes of greatness but the offense's lack of an identity as a whole, along with injuries, hurt his play, too. The Oklahoma Sooners had an obvious quarterback issue last season. Jackson Arnold wasn't great and Michael Hawkins showed flashes of greatness but the offense's lack of an identity as a whole, along with injuries, hurt his play, too. Coming into this year they have John Mateer, one of the best QBs in the country. But, they also have backup plans with Hawkins and freshmen QBs including Jett Niu.
Even with that, they have to stay prepared. You truly don't know what will happen in a year from now. This time last year we were all thinking Arnold and the Sooners would come into the SEC and be a great team. We were all devastatingly wrong.
So, they have recruited more quarterbacks for the 2026 season and beyond. In fact, there has been a recent development that suggests there is a new quarterback interested in the Sooners, even with Jaden O'Neal headlining the 2026 class.
2026 QB Bowe Bentley could be interested in Sooners
Bowe Bentley is a top high school quarterback from Celina High School in Celina, Texas. He's a junior in the class of 2026 and led his team, the Celina Bobcats, to a perfect 16-0 record and the Texas Class 4A Division I state championship in 2024. Bentley threw for 3,330 yards, completing 171 of 245 passes (69.8%) with 47 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.
Bentley is a four-star recruit with over 25 college offers from big schools like Oklahoma, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas Tech, and Missouri. He’s 6-foot-3, weighs about 195-200 pounds, and is known for his strong arm, running ability, and leadership. He was picked for the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl, showing he’s one of the best in the country.
Heading into his senior year, he hasn’t picked a college yet, but Texas Tech and Oklahoma are early favorites. His choice will be a big deal for the 2026 quarterback class.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been looking for their quarterback of the future to take over the reigns from John Mateer in the near future. Mateer has two years of eligibility left, meaning that at most, the Sooners have until the 2027 to find the answer to that problem. They could have found it in their […]
