The Oklahoma Sooners used to have one of the best offensive linemen programs in the country. Look in the NFL, you will see almost every elite offensive linemen either finished playing at Oklahoma or went there and then transferred.

That may be a bit extreme, but there are plenty of great offensive linemen from Oklahoma all throughout the NFL. And, that's largely because of offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, who developed talent like no other. But last year, we didn't see the talent translated onto the field, and that's largely because of injuries and a bad offense overall.

The recruiting the Sooners are doing is key. Whike they just had a bad season, they are still able to keep their 2025 class in the top 25 and their 2026 class is doing even better so far. And, it could continue to grow, as they have some visits lined up here soon that could change the class drastically if the Sooners make a good impression.

One of those visits is one of the best offensive lineman in the entire country.

Oklahoma Sooners have unofficial visit lined up with Drew Evers

Drew Evers is a top high school offensive tackle in the country from Flower Mound High School in Texas, part of the class of 2026. He’s 6-foot-4, weighs 302 pounds, and has started since his freshman year. With an 81-inch wingspan, he’s big, fast, and smart on the field, excelling in both pass protection and run blocking.

He’s considered one of the best in Texas and ranks high nationally, where some have him as the No. 1 player in his state, top four offensive tackle in the country, and a top 30 player overall in his class.

Over 30 big-name colleges, like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas, are after him. His older brother Nick, a former four-star quarterback, signed with Oklahoma in 2022, but Drew’s making his own path.

He’s focused on finding the right coaches, not just the biggest programs, and plans to pick a school by next summer. But, that could still be Oklahoma, as he now has an unofficial visit scheduled with the Sooners on March 8.

With his size, skills, and smart approach to recruiting, he’s on track to play for a top college and maybe even the NFL one day. But first, he's got to play his senior season next year.

Oklahoma Sooners 2026 recruiting class could see major shakeup at their most important position and push away longtime commit

The Oklahoma Sooners have begun building momentum towards a strong 2026 recruiting class after their 2025 class dipped below their usual expectations.  However, with two new coordinators in Norman this season, recruiting ties, positional value, and traits change from coach to coach. One of those shifts is seemingly happening right away with new offensive coordinator […]
