The Oklahoma Sooners recently made the one change to their offense that everyone was asking for, and another change that half of the fan base was asking for. The offense is the reason this team is 4-3 right now, and looking at another disappointing season.
But, there are still a few games left to salvage the season. In fact, there are still five games left, and they have the ability to really flip the script and upset a lot of people counting them out if they can get their offense to where it should be. There's only one issue, though — that's a big if.
The Sooners can start this week though, getting the offense back on track. It doesn't have to be perfect, no one is expecting that and no one should. However, things should get off to a better start this week than last week now that it's Jackson Arnold as the starter and offensive coordinator Seth Littrell is gone.
And, there is an injury update for the wide receivers that gives a bit of optimism.
According to Venables during his coaches show on Monday night, Andrel Anthony could still play this season still, despite being banged up after coming back from a bad injury that happened last year. He also stated that Deion Burks is day to day with his injury he has battled since before the Auburn Tigers game, and Jalil Farooq is a few weeks away.
All of this is fantastic news. However, some bad news comes with this, too.
Nic Anderson, the end zone threat and the player who ended the Red River Rivalry game in walkoff fashion last season, is set to be out for a bit. He has a torn quad, which is a pretty bad injury. But, Venables did mention that Anderson, along with Jayden Gibson, both want to play this year.
Now, whether that happens or not is a totally different story.
The Sooners are going to need all of the help they can get on the offensive side of the ball, as quickly as they can get it, too.
Jackson Arnold returns to starting lineup for Oklahoma Sooners in Week 8 against South Carolina
You wouldn't have been able to write up a worse start for the Oklahoma Sooners against the South Carolina Gamecocks today. Quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. turned the ball over three times in the first five minutes, one of them a pick-six and the other a fumble that was scooped and scored. Oklahoma's defense allowed just […]
