Oklahoma Sooners are now one step closer to potentially improving their 2026 class drastically

The Oklahoma Sooners need a boost in their recruiting. They aren't doing bad, at all actually, but for the history and name they have when it comes to college football, they should be doing better. And, maybe that's just because they just had a bad season, their first back-to-back losing season since the 90s.

Either way, there is still time for their 2026 class to get better. The 2025 class is not a bad one at all. The 2026 class has some potential to be great. And now they are in the top 12 for a recruit who is one of the best in the country at his position.

Sooners in top 12 for 2026 EDGE Jake Kreul

Jake Kreul is a four-star edge rusher in the Class of 2026, playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He’s originally from Orlando and moved from Bishop Moore Catholic High School to IMG after his sophomore year in 2024 to challenge himself against better competition. He has the size and strength for the position at 6’3” and 230-235 pounds.

As a sophomore at Bishop Moore in 2023, he had 76 tackles, 34 for loss, 17 sacks, and two forced fumbles. At IMG in 2024, he kept up the momentum, making big plays. He also plays basketball, which helps his quickness, movement, and hand-eye coordination.

Recruiters are all over him, with over 40 offers from top schools like Ohio State, Florida State, Oklahoma, Miami, and Clemson. He’s ranked No. 35 nationally and No. 4 among edge rushers by 247Sports. He recently cut his list to 12 schools and visited places like Oklahoma and Florida. Coaches see him as a future star, maybe as an edge rusher or hybrid linebacker, with a shot at the NFL. Heading into his senior year, Kreul’s talent and work ethic make him a big name to watch.

If he were to choose the Sooners, which there is a very big possibility he does, then the Sooners 2026 recruiting class would get a big boost.
