The Oklahoma Sooners are on the right path to turning this thing around. It won't be easy, but then again, no one said it would. Yes, he somewhat got the Sooners in this position in the first place, but if anyone can get them out, it's Brent Venables.

The now fourth-year head coach of the Sooners is set to try and turn a six-win team that lost some very embarrassing games last year into a near 10-win team, and one that is playing meaningful games late in the year. No one is asking him to win a National Championship in 2025, although it would be nice, but he does need to have this team in a completely different place than where he had it last year.

With spring football underway, everything we are hearing so far is positive. John Mateer and Ben Arbuckle are getting on well with their new team. And the freshmen, well, they are coming in and showing why they deserve to be there.

One in particular is already turning heads, just as we all expected him to do.

"I would say [Michael] Fasusi, man," Kendal Dolby said on The REF. "He works hard.  And you can just tell those young guys, those freshmen, who don't have a freshman mindset. And you know it's okay, I would say it's okay to come in and kind of be a freshman. Like, it's okay to you know, learn the ropes.

"There are some guys, though, like, Man, I'm gonna take somebody's job. Like, to me, I'm not a young guy. I'm not a freshman. He grinds hard. I like the way he works. I love to see it, that's special to me to bring the best out of everybody. So just a lot of things that guys have come in, demanding excellence from the old guys and vice versa. And it's a great thing."

Fasusi is a guy that they could very well need that from in 2025. I'm not sure he will start right off the bat, but as a five-star, I wouldn't rule him out of starting at some point this season. He has the body and size for it, as he put on the weight required by the coaching staff, and he certainly has the skill set.

The Sooners were lucky to land the best offensive lineman in the country. Now, he has to go out there and show why he's the best. And, the Sooners seem to think that he will do just that.
