The stakes are high for the Oklahoma Sooners in their SEC opener this weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers. Win, and the Sooners make a resounding about their ability to fit in the SEC. Lose, and get hit with a "Welcome to the SEC" gong.
ESPN's College Gameday will be in town for the game, and all eyes will be on Norman for a primetime showdown between these two teams.
Part of the excitement of this game is the multitude of high-profile recruits visiting Oklahoma this weekend.
By my count, the Sooners are set to host 48(!) total recruits along the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes on Saturday.
Oklahoma Sooners land elite five star offensive tackle beating out Texas and Texas A&M for the Texas native
The Oklahoma Sooners made a huge recruiting splash Wednesday, landing one of the top recruits in the country in Lewisville offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. Their 2025 class is headlined by five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, and two top-100 recruits in edge rusher CJ Nickson, and offensive tackle Ryan Fodje. A slew of other four stars are set to make the trip to Norman as well, with CB Trystan Haynes, WR Elijah Thomas, and WR Marcus Harris visiting.
Oklahoma looks to solidify its defensive back room with several visitors coming in. Safeties Courtland Guillory, Marcus Wimberly, and Omarion Robinson as well as CB Maliek Hawkins will be in town for this game as well.
In the 2026 and 2027 classes, the Sooners are looking to this weekend to build on their recent recruiting momentum.
Talented 2027 quarterbacks in Peyton Houston and Trae Taylor are expected to visit this weekend. Oklahoma's looking to keep its tradition of strong quarterback play moving, and their future answer could lie in one of those two signal callers.
Top Oklahoma prospect RB Kaydin (KD) Jones is making the trip to Norman. 247Sports Composite's eighth-ranked tight end, Ian Premer, is also set to visit. Premer is the #1 2026 prospect out of Kansas for the 2026 class. The Sooners are also hosting a pair of talented 2027 running backs Honor Fa'alave-Johnson and Wayne Shanks.
To add to their skill talent visits, 2026 four-star wide receiver Mason James is expected to be in town. Joining him are 2027 wide receivers from Texas Trenton Yancey and Tay Ellis.
Oklahoma is playing host to several talented offensive linemen in these classes as well. 2026 linemen Vincent Johnson, Will Conroy, Deacon Schmitt, and Bear McWhorter are expected to visit Norman this weekend as well.
As expected of a staff led by Brent Venables, they're expected to bring in multiple highly-ranked defensive players.
The son of former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, Cooper, headlines their 2027 defensive talent. Witten is a five-star safety recruit according to 257Sports Composite rankings and the number-one safety in the '27 class.
