The Oklahoma Sooners have gotten off to a fast start in the transfer portal, lining up several visits from talented playmakers all across the country on both sides of the ball.

One of their main areas of focus has been adding talent at wide receiver to continue bolstering the offense around quarterback John Mateer. They have already lined up a visit for one intriguing player at wide receiver, but are continuing to set up visits. One such visit has been to add a former All-ACC player who would add a completely new dimension to the Sooners’ offense.

Trell Harris could be a game-changer for Oklahoma Sooners

Harris, a Third-Team All-ACC member from 2025, led the Cavaliers in every receiving category this season, and it’s abundantly clear why as soon as you turn on the film. The 6’0, 200-pounder is a tremendous blend of height/weight/speed, and Virginia made sure to highlight it as often as they could.

The Sooners had speed at wide receiver this season. Isaiah Sategna led the team in every receiving category, as one of the most explosive threats in college football, but Harris is a different style of deep threat. His height and length make him a better contested threat downfield, and I would argue he was also a better route runner throughout the season than Sategna. He also played through contact routinely better, something that often hampered Oklahoma.

Harris would bring that perfect outside presence Oklahoma’s offense needs to take that next step in 2026. Far too often in 2025, teams sat on routes, daring the Sooners to try and beat them over the top through the air, and that impacted both the run and passing games. Teams could cloud coverage over to Sategna to take him away, and Oklahoma just didn’t have the speed to threaten them out of those looks. Harris would change that.

Obviously, there’s a long process still to be had with Harris’s decision, and Harris will make the rounds as the rest of college football starts paying attention, but the Sooners should send the house and go full-court press to try and lock up this dynamite playmaker as soon as possible.
