Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners' only offense was pretty much the run game by both the running back room and the quarterback room, and even that part of their offense was bad at times. But, it was better than the passing game.

They have to fix that in 2025, but it will be hard to go away from the run game at times when you have offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle on your staff, who loves to run the ball, especially doing QB-designed runs. And, it won't be easy getting away from the run game when you have the talented, young group of RBs that the Oklahoma Sooners have.

They have three young guys that could all get carries this season in Xavier Robinson, who was the best back to end the year in 2024, Taylor Tatum, who easily showed the best potential in 2024, and now freshman RB Tory Blaylock.

Oh, and the Sooners have some veteran guys along with the superstar RB, they could soon be adding through the transfer portal.

According to Parker Thune, the Sooners are a name to watch when it comes to one of the best returning RBs in the country, and probably one of the best players in the transfer portal.

Jaydn Ott, a running back for the California Golden Bears, had a notable college career marked by standout performances and injury setbacks. As a freshman in 2022, he rushed for 897 yards and eight touchdowns, followed by a stellar 2023 sophomore season with 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-Pac-12 honors.

An ankle injury in 2024 limited him to ten games and 385 yards with four touchdowns, hampering his production. However, he only had 110 carries to his 240 the year before.

Despite announcing a return for his senior year, Ott entered the transfer portal. He finished his Cal career with 2,597 rushing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 712 receiving yards on 95 catches. His speed and versatility made him a projected early NFL Draft pick before his injury-plagued junior year.

Now, he could be another piece to make an offense that was one of the worst in the country last season, now elite heading into 2025.
