The Oklahoma Sooners need to keep their foot on the gas with the recruiting momentum they currently have. While last season was a bad one for the program, the Sooners are still in a good position to recruit well. The school's name and history is enough sometimes, but let's not understate how big Brent Venables and his crew have been as well.

With the recent hire of general manager Jim Nagy, it could only get better, too. The Sooners need to get their 2026 and 2027 classes moving, and he will surely help that. They already had a visit with one of the best 2027 players in the country this last weekend.

Sooners hosted visit for 2027 RB Jayden Miles

Jayden Miles is a four-star running back from the 2027 class at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He’s 6’2”, 203 pounds, and known for his size, speed, and agility. As a sophomore, he’s already one of the top prospects in his class and a standout in Louisiana, a state full of football talent that very often produces some of the best players in the world. College programs are already taking notice, too.

In November 2024, Miles had a huge game against Zachary High School, scoring seven touchdowns—six rushing and one receiving—in a 73-55 win that secured the district title for Catholic. He ran for 179 yards on 23 carries, caught an 8-yard touchdown pass, and even threw a two-point conversion, breaking the school’s single-game touchdown record previously set by NFL stars Warrick Dunn and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Rivals ranks him as the No. 4 running back and No. 55 overall player in the 2027 class, plus No. 7 in Louisiana.

Miles has offers from big schools like LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida State, Baylor, Houston, and Oregon. He’s planning to visit Auburn, Houston, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M in spring 2025. LSU, close to home, offered him a spot during their "Boys in the Boot" Junior Day, and they’re eager to keep him in-state. With his power and playmaking ability, Miles is a top target for colleges and could be a game-changer wherever he lands.

But, the Sooners have a shot to prove to him that he should go to OU and play under former Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray, who is the RB coach for the Sooners. Oklahoma's visit with him has already happened this last weekend, giving them a major shot at proving themselves.
