Oklahoma Sooners get massive news on elite playmakers who will help propel another College Football Playoff run in 2026
Kip Lewis and Isaiah Sategna have made their decisions to return to the Oklahoma Sooners in 2026.
The Oklahoma Sooners entered their offseason following a strong 2025 season, awaiting multiple decisions that would affect the trajectory of their offseason. While some departures, such as Deion Burks and R Mason Thomas, were expected given their eligibility, the Sooners have been anxiously awaiting decisions from two key playmakers on their return to Oklahoma for the 2026 season.
Those two players, linebacker Kip Lewis and wide receiver Isaiah Sategna, each affected Oklahoma’s offseason priorities. Fortunately, the Sooners have their decisions in hand now, and the two have elected to return, propelling Oklahoma’s chances for another deep playoff run next season. While neither made an official announcement, the deadline to enter the 2026 NFL Draft has passed, and neither has entered.
Massive boost for Oklahoma Sooners in 2026
Lewis will return to anchor the defense. In 2025, he led the team in tackles and finished third in tackles for loss. His four passes defended were tied for the team lead as well. Throughout his career, Lewis has made several impact plays and has stepped up as a vocal leader on that side of the ball, admirably filling the void left by Danny Stutsman. Alongside the addition of Cole Sullivan, the Sooners’ linebacker room should be even better than it was in 2025.
Sategna arrived at Norman as an unheralded transfer portal addition, but fans quickly recognized his talent. Sategna led the Sooners in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns on his way to a Second-Team All-SEC nod. His return ensures some continuity in the receiving corps with John Mateer and gives the Sooners the most explosive players in the country. Alongside transfer additions Trell Harris, Parker Livingstone, and Mackenzie Alleyne, Sategna will give Oklahoma’s wide receiver room some much-needed playmaking ability.
The Sooners were still active in the transfer portal, but with the return of this duo, along with Mateer, their championship window remains wide open.
