The Oklahoma Sooners used to be known for their elite offense. However, under Brent Venables this last year, they had a terrible offense, one of the worst in the country, and an elite defense, one of the best in the country. The Sooners definitely need to improve their offense, and so far they have roster-wise.

However, they need to make sure they keep their defense elite over the next few years as these players who made up the original elite defense, start to move out, whether it be graduation, NFL Draft, or transfer portal. Some of the moves they have made for their 2026 class would suggest they are trying to keep that defense elite.

Their 2026 class only has a few players committed. All of them are offensive players. But, they have sent out a ton of offers to some elite defensive prospects. And, they now have a FutureCast to land one.

Sooners land FutureCast for Kevin Ford

Kevin Ford Jr. is a standout high school football player from Duncanville High School in Texas, known for his skills as an edge rusher. He played a key role in Duncanville winning back-to-back Texas 6A Division I state championships in 2022 and 2023.

Ford's athletic abilities are impressive; he's comfortable playing in different defensive end roles and has shown strength and agility on the field. His performance has earned him recognition as one of the top prospects in his class, with offers from major colleges like Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, Houston, and LSU. And, Oklahoma seems to be one of the teams he is most interested in.

In his recruitment, Ford has visited schools like Texas, too. He's also been invited to the Under Armour All-American Game in 2024, highlighting his status among the best high school football players. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 66 overall prospect and No. 8 edge in the class of 2026. His future in college football looks bright, given his current performance and potential for further development.
