The Oklahoma Sooners only had two players drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft (Danny Stutsman & Billy Bowman), but they are projected to have significantly more draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
In A to Z Sports' latest three-round mock draft, the Sooners place three players in the first two days of the NFL Draft alone.
Wide receiver Deion Burks was the first Sooner off the board, going 76th overall to the New England Patriots. He was quickly followed by safety Robert Spears-Jennings, going 86th overall to the Los Angeles Chargers, and defensive tackle Gracen Halton, who was selected 88th overall here by the Green Bay Packers.
It's a welcome surprise to see both Spears-Jennings and Halton this high, but both of them being selected this early means things broke very well for the Sooners this year. Burks also feels rather low, considering he was in contention for the first round at this time last year before being stuck in an abysmal offense, but with injuries marring his 2024 season, he'll have to regain that stock.
The biggest surprise here, in my opinion, is the lack of either pass rusher R Mason Thomas or linebacker Kip Lewis in the mock. Thomas is already appearing very high on big boards heading into the 2025 season as one of the most productive pass rushers in college football last season.
Kip Lewis outplayed Danny Stutsman last season, and Stutsman went in the fourth round of the draft with injuries dragging his stock down. Lewis is inarguably the Sooners' best coverage linebacker in a decade, and will more than likely test well leading up to the draft.
There are quite a few names to keep an eye on for the Sooners leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft. On top of the players already mentioned, players like defensive tackle Damonic Williams, offensive tackle Derek Simmons, quarterback John Mateer, running back Jaydn Ott, pass rusher PJ Adebawore, safety Peyton Bowen, cornerback Gentry Williams, and guard Febechi Nwaiwu all have chances to hear their names called in next year's draft.
