The Oklahoma Sooners had a bumpy ride in their wide receiver room all season long. Jayden Gibson suffered a season-ending injury over the summer. Nic Anderson was hurt right before the season's first game and ended up playing for one series all season. Jalil Farooq broke his foot in the first game. Andrel Anthony never recovered from an ACL tear he suffered last season. Deion Burks made it through the first three games of the season without an injury but was hurt in Week 4 against Tennessee.

All told, Oklahoma never played a game with their starting five wide receivers. Quite frankly, it's something I have never seen before. Now that the season is over, the Sooners are looking to replenish that room with talent out of the transfer portal.

According to On3's Pete Nakos, the Sooners are a prime target for at least one (and maybe two) talented wide receivers out of the transfer portal.

Nakos listed former five-star wide receiver and Texas Tech transfer Micah Hudson as a potential target for the Sooners.

"The former Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver recruit has announced he will Texas Tech and enter the transfer portal. During his high school recruitment, Micah Hudson was not high on Texas, a contributing factor in his decision to commit to the Red Raiders. Expect Hudson to look at Texas A&M and Oklahoma for starters. Playing time will be a big factor, as he only played in six games at Texas Tech."

Despite his recruiting status, Hudson only caught seven passes for 113 yards for the Red Raiders in 2024. However, the talent is evident on the field.

Another name that Nakos mentioned that could also be linked to the Sooners was NC State transfer Kevin Concepcion. Nakos said that "playing in a pass-friendly offense in the SEC or Big Ten will be a priority" for him as he looks to potentially enter the NFL soon.

A pass-friendly offense fits what new Sooners' offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle does to a T. Concepcion is another talented playmaker who has caught 124 passes for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns in two years for the Wolfpack.

I would not be shocked if Oklahoma makes a play for one or both of these receivers in the portal. It feels more likely than not that Deion Burks will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Nic Anderson is another unknown with a tough decision to make for his future. Who knows what Andrel Anthony and Jayden Gibson will look like medically too? Oklahoma already had Jaquaize Pettaway hit the portal this week (though if he couldn't see the field this season, I doubt it's a significant loss) and have already had a couple of wide receivers decommit from their 2025 recruiting class.

I can't say the Sooners churning over this room would be a bad decision. There are a lot more questions than answers, and Oklahoma cannot afford that with a massive 2025 season ahead of them.

We'll see how Oklahoma attacks the transfer portal in the offseason, but I would expect them to be involved with both (and more) of these wide receivers this offseason. Wide receivers coach Emmett Jones landed the best wide receiver in the portal last year with Burks, and he could strike gold again with these two this offseason.
