The Oklahoma Sooners have released their first injury report of the 2024 season, ahead of their SEC opener against the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Sooners get some much needed and welcomed injury news this week. Starting wide receivers Nic Anderson and Andrel Anthony are listed as "probable" to play.

Oklahoma has been relying on backups for the last two games at wide receiver, limiting their efficacy in the passing game. Anderson is a budding star and tremendous outside talent, while Anthony is a gifted deep threat. Assuming they are good to go, that would be a huge boost to their lagging passing attack.

In perhaps even bigger news, several key offensive linemen appear close or ready to play this week. Starting right tackle Jake Taylor and starting center Branson Hickman are both questionable to play, while key backup center Troy Everett is probable to play.

The Sooners have played musical chairs at both spots this season and have been relying on young backups to fill the void left behind by these injuries. Having these guys back against such a talented defensive line would make Oklahoma fans vastly more comfortable this week.

Additionally, Cheetah Kendel Dolby is listed as probable to play. Dolby suffered a concussion against Houston and missed the fourth quarter of that game as well as the Sooners' Week 3 matchup against Tulane. Dolby has been a terrific playmaker for the Sooners and they'll need him this week against Tennessee's high-octane offense.

On the flip side for Tennessee, it doesn't appear as if many starters appear on the list. Starting left tackle Lance Heard missed last week's game against Kent State but is likely to play this week against the Sooners. He is listed as questionable.

The Volunteers will be missing a key depth piece on the offensive line, with guard Shamurad Umarov declared out. Umarov isn't a starter but rotated in at left guard with the backups in the Volunteers' several blowout wins to start the season.
